ZipTrip is an AI travel companion that turns a vague idea — a week off, a rough budget, a preference for mountains over beaches — into a bookable itinerary. We designed and built the mobile app end to end, from the brand and onboarding through to the AI planning experience and the booking flows behind it.

The Challenge

Travel planning is fragmented across a dozen tabs: flights in one place, hotels in another, activities somewhere else, and no single view of what the trip actually costs. The brief was to collapse that into one conversation-led flow that still ends in a real, bookable itinerary — and to do it in an onboarding short enough that a first-time user reaches value before losing patience.

What We Built

  • A three-screen onboarding that captures travel style, group type, and terrain preference in under a minute, seeding the AI with enough signal to make its first suggestions genuinely personal rather than generic.
  • An AI planning layer that assembles complete itineraries — flights, hotels, cruises, and activities — against the traveller’s stated budget and preferences, with everything bookable inside the app.
  • A low-friction account model offering Apple, Google, email, and guest entry, so nobody is blocked behind a signup form before they have seen what the product does.
  • A design system built for both platforms from one codebase, with the brand’s gradient identity carried through splash, onboarding, and every subsequent screen.
It was a great experience working with the ZipTrip team. We designed and developed their AI-powered mobile app together, and we are continuing to build out further AI features with them.Design World Studio
